The mission of IHIF is to build a comprehensive system for the prevention
and treatment of brain trauma in India, with particular emphasis on patients
suffering from brain injury due to accidents, and to provide rehabilitation
for them.
Activities may include, but are not limited to:
a) The establishment of a hospital in any part of India
as the trustees may decide from time to time for the treatment and rehabilitation
of patients mainly suffering from brain trauma or brain injury due to
accidents or otherwise.
b) Financial and technical assistance to various hospitals
in India for the purpose of establishing a coordinated Brain Trauma System,
evidence-based Brain trauma emergency care, or rehabilitation services,
including support groups for care givers during and beyond hospitalization.
c) An agreement with the Brain Trauma Foundation (BTF),
New York City to provide: the latest scientific guidelines, protocols,
educational materials and research for the management of head injury;
an international exchange of physicians, nurses and paramedics between
India and the United States for consultation, lectures and training; and
telemedicine, databases and accredited education programme via the internet
technology.
d) Organization and sponsorship of conferences, seminars,
workshop, meetings, symposiums for creating awareness, exchanging scientific
information and training health care professionals on the prevention,
assessment, treatment, transport and rehabilitation of traumatic head
injury populace caused due to accidents or otherwise.
e) Public awareness programmes on injury prevention,
recognition of head injury, information regarding rehabilitation and resources
for long-term care.
f) Collaborations with other like-minded institutions,
organizations, or hospitals in India and around the world which are interested
in the establishment of centers for acute head injury care and rehabilitation
Partnership with those Indian or foreign organizations, institutions and
hospitals which are already providing trauma care and rehabilitation services
to patients.
g) It is envisaged to create a specialized rehab centre,
a fully equipped short stay home to enable the Trauma patients a speedy
and a significant recovery, towards an independent living.
The
Maharaja of Marwar – Jodhpur has established Indian Head Injury Foundation
with the mission to prevent and treat head injury and create awareness
on the subject matter. India is amongst the leading countries of traumatic
brain injury occurrences in the world and on top of it without any l significant
trauma management system. The vast rural areas in the country today lack
any health care services to this effect. In collaboration with the BTF,
USA, His Highness envisages to provide services, education, information
and programs on life saving systems using the electronic technology through
out India.
