A 25 year old male came to us with grade 3 ACL tear (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) with buckling of posterior cruciate ligament, mild joint effusion.
Chief Complaints : Pain in knee movement, swelling around knee in the last 3 months
On examination: Anterior drawer test +ve, Pivot shift +ve, Lachman test +ve
Specific Scales Pre-Rehabilitation USED: NPRS = 9/10.
Problem Identified: Grade 3 ACL tear, Mild joint effusion Bilateral, excessive swelling around eft knee, Poor balance, antalgic gait and genu varum.
Treatment Goal: Decrease pain and tenderness left knee, improve ROM left knee, improve posture, improve gait, improve balance.
Treatment Plan: Initially patient was not able to come to the Centre due to poor accessibility for his home. Home protocol was advised i.e., every 2 hourly icing, TENS and ankle pumping. After 2-week Passive Range of Motion (ROM) exercises of lower limb, knee isometric exercises and, gait training done. After 17 sessions Mobility improved, Lower limb ROM increased, independent walking start developing, swelling and stiffness resolved.
Specific scales post rehabilitation USED: NPRS = 3/10
Precaution: Avoid excessive weight bearing on affected limb and prevent injury.
