Jagdeep Case Report

A 3 years old boy came to our centre with his parents. Child was diagnosed with ADHD & ASD. Mother briefed us about some of the present chief complaints.

Chief complaints-

  • Speech is limited and unclear
  • Poor understanding
  • Poor eye contact
  • Poor concentration
  • Repetive behaviour
  • Obsessed with wheels
  • Aggressive behaviour

HOPI- No relevant history of any injury/infection during or after the pregnancy. Child achieved all developmental milestones on time except speech and language.

DST -DA-1yr 11m. D

Problems Identified –

  • Hyperactive
  • Attention seeking behaviour
  • Behaviour issues like biting,hitting
  • Poor command following
  • Poor fine motor skills
  • Poor acadmei

Treatment and home protocol – Initially, child had attention seeking behavior with everyone around him aggressive and unsupportive with the peers.Child have poor understanding and confused during activity. We started our therapy by creating a friendly environment around him, which helped in building some rapport. After that, we started working on the child’s speech and language, which increased receptive and expressive language and he began to follow commands and taking permissions.Also educated his mother about the child’s condition and home protocol.

Treatment as follows –

  • Pointing(for support language development)
  • Light therapy (for improving visual tracking and improving sitting tolerance)
  • Picking beads with chopsticks (for improving fine motor skills, concentration, eye hand coordination and improving sitting tolerance)
  • Idle sitting
  • Colouring within boundries (for improving balance, concentration, fine motor skills and eye hand coordination).
  • Brain gym (for improving problem solving and reasoning)
  • Fruits and vegetables names and identification(for speech and cognitive devekopment)
  • Tracing lines (for improving academic skills)
  • Double commands activities (for improving understanding and command following)
  • Group Activity(for peer socialisation,communication)

Post treatment outcome major –

Now, the child follows commands. When asked the child name, child tries to respond and try to answer whatever is being asked. Sitting activities and light therapy have increased his sitting tolerance and concentration. Improvement in unclear speech and w Child has started taking permission before doing anything.
