Conference – November 2015

International Conference on Neuro Rehabilitation – Developing Skills

Conference Theme: “Neuro rehab subsequent to Head & Spine Injuries”

We at the “Indian Head Injury Foundation” (IHIF)are a motivated and inspired group of people working to provide care to victims of neuro trauma in India. The Foundation is endeavoring to progressively establish an “All India Footprint”.

In 2005, His Highness GajSingh II, Maharaja of Jodhpur had a personal tragedy when his son Shivraj suffered a serious head injury whilst playing polo. With the grace of God, he is making a steady and determined recovery through an intensive rehabilitation programme. To prevent other Indians facing such shortcomings in pre and post traumatic health care and rehabilitation, the Maharaja in 2007,set up a not for profit charitable institution called the “Indian Head Injury Foundation”.

IHIF’s ‘Mission’ is to foster the development of a comprehensive neuro trauma care system in India that includes prevention through awareness, effective provision of pre-hospital care, timely diagnosis and treatment, and neuro-rehabilitation of head and spine injury victims. The IHIF has already set up two high quality Rehabilitation Centers in Delhi and Jodhpur, which are providing quality service in post trauma, care to the needy, especially from the weaker sections of society. IHIF aims to expand to three more places in India in the next five years.

The Indian Head Injury Foundation together with Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi under the aegis of WFNR (World federation for Neuro Rehabilitation)is organizing an International conference on Neuro Rehabilitation –Developing skills with the theme on Neuro Rehab subsequent to head and spine injury from 27th to 28th November 2015 at India International Centre, New Delhi..

The “Indian Head Injury Foundation” (IHIF) conducted a very successful Multidisciplinary International Neuro Rehab Conference “Developing Skills” held on 27th and 28th November 2015 at IIC New Delhi. The Conference was supported by Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and World Federation for Neuro Rehabilitation (WFNR). The theme for the conference was ‘Neuro-Rehab subsequent to Head or Spinal cord Injury’. There was a large participation from across the world and from India and around 160 delegates and 40 faculties participated in the event. The faculty consisted of Senior Neuro Surgeons and Physicians along with many Senior Therapists (Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologist, Speech Therapists). The morning sessions in the form of lectures and afternoon sessions were dedicated workshops on GAIT Analysis, Vestibular Rehab, NDT, Cognitive Rehab, ADL training, Dysphagia management etc. There was a post conference workshop conducted at IHIF Neuro-Rehab Center, New Delhi and at Apollo Hospital on 29th November which was attended by around 30 therapists.

A discussion with participants and the feedback received clearly brings out the huge knowledge benefits derived by participants through close quarter exchanges with the world class faculty. We are sure that they will go back to their jobs as better professionals and more helpful to society.
