A 11-months-old boy presented to us with Global Development Delay (GDD). Chief complaints as given by parents were that he do not hold neck, muscle tightness, can’t speak, can’t sit and stand

babbles only and loss of appetite

HOPI-

He has history of delayed birth cry (5-10 minutes) And seizure after birth. H/O difficulty in food intake.

Developmental H/O

Rolling -6 months, Neck holding -6-7 months, Sitting – 11 months, Crawling -NA, Standing -NA

Treatment and home programme:

Passive stretching of lower limb muscles especially TA and hamstrings. Tone normalization exercises

Developmental exercises – bridging, pull to sit, quadruped, kneeling, half-kneeling and squatting.

Activities: – Supported sitting with pillows, prone on elbows, prone on pillow, ball rocking in sitting, supine and prone, Ball bouncing in prone and supine position

Home modification –some dietary modification for the child were taught. Educated their parents for their treatment protocol.

After, 28 sessions at the Centre and also sessions at home over a period of one month, he started unsupported sitting, improvised functional activity of both hands with mild assistance, responding to verbal clues. Neck and trunk muscle control also developed.
